Festive Wassail

This hot cup of joy is sweet and warms you from head to toe. Perfect for enjoying with friends after a holiday dinner party. Plus, it's super easy to make, add all ingredients into a bowl, heat up and garnish the way you like it.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 litres apple cider or apple juice
  • 80 ml maple syrup (or honey)
  • 4 sticks of cinnamon
  • 12 whole cloves
  • 4 whole allspice berries
  • 1/4 tbsp caradmom seeds
  • 200 ml whisky, we used The Cheshire
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp orange extract
  • 1 large apple (for garnish if you'd like)

Instructions
 

  • Add the apple cider or apple juice and syrup to a large saucepan. Heat over medium-high heat. Add in the vanilla extract.
  • Then add in the orange extract, cinnamon sticks, cloves and allspice berries and cardamom seeds. Stir to combine - bring to a boil for a second and then reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for about 30 mins.
  • Strain mulled cider through a sieve. Add in the whiskey, stir to combine. Serve with a fresh apple slice or a cinnamon stick.
